Lunar Rover Illustration

A while ago I worked the Futureal Bundle, and really enjoyed creating the illustrations for the mixer, reel-to-reel player and other elements on the page.

So, I decided to work on a NASA, Lunar rover inspired illustration. Because I love anything to do with space and the 1969 moon landings, and I really want to do more illustration work like this.

Although the shape and style of the Lunar rover is clearly inspiration for the illustration, I don’t want it to be an exact replica, giving me licence to add sections, and try out different shapes and line weights and expand on my previous work.

To create the textured sections I have been stocking up on different resources to use in my design work, by scanning different types of materials and taking photos of surfaces. I have also been making my own Illustrator scatter brushes which I use to add texture on the illustration. Once I work up enough resources I think I am going to release them for other designers to use.

This particular design is a work in progress and hopefully going to be part of a larger set of illustrations in this style, or maybe even a poster if I can come up with a good enough idea for it.
